Once Upon a Field : Group Exhibition

May 30 - August 15, 2026 Mexico City
Eleven stories, eleven artists, eleven ways of seeing fútbol. From May 29 through August 15, Mariane Ibrahim Mexico City becomes the stage for Once Upon a Field, a group exhibition bringing together works by Raphaël Barontini, Omar Victor Diop, Slimen Elkamel, Salah Elmur, Clotilde Jiménez, Youssef Nabil, Peter Robinson, Abderrahmane Sissako, Peter Uka, and more.

The title of the exhibition is built around a play on words that, much like this World Cup, moves across languages and territories. Once means “eleven” in Spanish —the eleven players on the pitch— while also evoking the beginning of a story: once upon a time. Through photography, film, installation, and painting, the exhibition gathers narratives shaped by play, memory, the body, and the enduring power of imagination.
