Inspired by a personal photo of a gathering of close-knit family and friends. All decedents of migrants from Haiti I felt it was interesting to use the image as a reference. The piece depicts an extended moment at the airport as first time immigrants from Haiti transition into their final destination: New York City. Despite being strangers in an unfamiliar place, they all experience a sense of belonging within each other's company, united against common adversity with mutual understanding.
