Everything begins with a calling: Hermès and Clotilde Jiménez envision a journey beyond the known

Clotilde Jiménez meets with Fernanda Silverio at his studio to discuss Lo que nos llama, his collaboration with Hermès that transforms the maison’s storefront windows in Mexico City into a journey beyond the familiar. Inspired by Hermès’s 2026 theme, Venture Beyond, Jiménez draws on his multicultural identity and experiences living in different places to develop a three-part narrative about curiosity, discovery, and personal transformation. “My identity isn’t so linear,” the artist shares, reflecting on a life shaped by different cultures and geographies. He brings the experimental atmosphere of his studio into the installation, combining collage and sculpture with the materials, accessories, and equestrian references characteristic of the maison.

The three window displays—La Llamada, La Preparación, and La Llegada—tell a story that begins with the impulse to explore and culminates in the idea that reaching a destination can also mean discovering something about oneself. Mexican cartonería introduces a local artisanal tradition into the project, while Hermès silk scarves become prickly pears among cacti and equestrian accessories accompany a motorcycle reimagined as a contemporary horse. As Jiménez explains, “What we have in common is, first and foremost, materiality, and an attention to objects and making.” Through these unexpected combinations, the artist creates a dialogue between Mexican craftsmanship, Hermès’s savoir-faire, and his own artistic language.
