The exploration of identity through social questioning.

Clotilde Jiménez is a multidisciplinary artist of African American and Puerto Rican roots who uses his art to explore his identity and question social structures. His work addresses themes such as race, sexuality, and traditions, influenced by diverse cultural experiences. The pandemic and the loss of close family members led him to create La Memoria del Agua, an introspective series on grief and self-knowledge. In his creative process, he seeks freedom and fluidity, allowing ideas to emerge spontaneously from his personal reflections.

The experience of facing racism during his university years was fundamental in his artistic evolution, motivating him to use art as a tool to cope with pain and alienation. One of his most significant projects, La Gruta, explores migration, spirituality, and autonomy, using Nahua mythology as a metaphor for cultural resistance. The central message of his work is authenticity, inviting the audience to embrace their identity and feel enough, regardless of the context.
