After opening namesake galleries in Seattle and Chicago, French-Somali art dealer Mariane Ibrahim is unveiling a new establishment in Paris. A champion and advocate for artists from the African diaspora, Ibrahim will be firmly planted on the prestigious Avenue Matignon alongside art world heavyweights such as White Cube, Almine Rech, and Emmanuel Perrotin—to name just a few.
“I have a connection to Paris having lived [here] before leaving to go to the U.S. over a decade ago,” Ibrahim says. “I left Paris because I felt like I wasn’t getting what I needed, which was a sense of belonging and diversity. . . . [It’s] important to know where you are departing from and where you are going.”
