For this piece i wanted to create narrative around a pilgrimage or a state of transformation from a man a clearly distincltive state of individuality or humanity and have that figure move through the painting to the other end where they would loose all recognition of the self. A move from a space to become one with the wilderness. To be no longer separate from the wild space they enter. Like an embrace or a unification with nature. I was thinking about the state of coming into oneself. Like the journey of discovering sexuality, how others see it in you before you do. How certain traits can be seen as feminine, like softness and how that can be connected to the properties of a fruit. I was also thinking about part of that transition how its metamorphosis from normal to queer how that can be coded through the body through dance and gesture and language and how that can be manifested in hidden spaces. A safe space for soft boys, that turn into men disguised as night, edgeless and untrustworthy.
