“This work along with the kneeling figure mark a possible new approach for my material, I have experimented with my own technique, where the black is not broken up by distemper or other materials. The black defines the atmosphere of the entire work (as always), and in this piece, it frames the figures (of which are not of anyone specific), but marks a memory of going to the beach alone at night, giving a sense of intimacy that is both anxious and forbidden somehow. The sea isn’t just a feature of paradise but a beginning and an end to something or a border between worlds.’
