The ‘Abode’ series primarily explores relationships between people who have created a home together. It draws on the resonance of queer homes, historically being one of the only places where queer people could exist freely, unbound by heteronormative and patriarchal norms. The paintings explore single and double figures, in comfortable, relaxed settings. It is important to Forrester that the figures are relaxed and completely at one with themselves and their bodies. That they appear relatable, transparent, and honest.
