Biography
Naomi Lulendo (b. 1994 in France; lives and works in Paris) is a French-Guadeloupean-Congolese artist whose multidisciplinary practice spans photography, ceramics, installation, and video. Through these mediums, she examines how certain bodies, garments, objects, and architectures are perceived across cultural and geographical contexts, foregrounding their capacity to create new relationships between history and the present. Her research explores notions and representations of femininity and foreign bodies through vernacular, traditional, and esoteric practices in both the arts and sciences, including textile crafts, botany, architecture, and the corpo-real. Attentive to cross-cultural cosmologies, Lulendo draws on the languages, tales, and aesthetics of her Creole and African origins.

At the core of her practice is an investigation into the aesthetic and symbolic correspondences between the body, clothing, and architecture, which she considers as first, second, and third skins. Through processes of displacement, fragmentation, and recontextualization, she constructs works that question fixed readings and singular narratives, while examining the individual, collective, social, and political implications of human mobility and cultural collisions. Across her work, materials, images, and gestures become sites through which identity, projection, transformation, and belonging are critically articulated.

A graduate of the Beaux-Arts de Paris (2018), Naomi Lulendo completed a postgraduate degree in Art and Research at the Beaux-Arts de Lyon (2025). She is a Zeitz MOCAA associated artist and a member of Unfinished Camp, an international network bringing together artists and institutions across six continents, including Zeitz MOCAA, HEK, Serpentine, Pivô, LUMA Arles, UCCA, The High Line, ACMI, and The Shed New York, conceived and directed by Hans Ulrich Obrist and András Szántó. She was also a fellow of RAW Académie’s 5th session, Germination, directed by artist Otobong Nkanga (2018).

Her work has been exhibited at Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2024); Deichtorhallen, Hamburg (2025); Frieze, London (2025); Galerie Perrotin, Paris (2025); Selebe Yoon, Dakar (2023, 2024); Pivô Art Center, São Paulo (2022); Galleria Continua, Les Moulins (2016); and Palais des Beaux-Arts, Paris (2015), among others.
