Amoako Boafo
Vogue México

"Amoako Boafo is in Mexico. The Ghanaian, perhaps the most influential African artist of his generation, will hang some of his highly coveted portraits at the Mariane Ibrahim gallery, located in the Cuauhtémoc neighborhood of the capital city. The exhibition, which will be open to the public at the gallery until May 4th, is, as Boafo himself tells Vogue Mexico and Latin America, a tribute to self-expression.

The One that Got Away refers to many elements. The one who managed to escape is someone who was able to succeed beyond the limits that life imposes, emphasizing someone's ability to pave their own way and break boundaries. On the other hand, the title also accentuates how my work has been a tool of self-expression that has given me more than I ever imagined. The title delves into emotions, into untold stories, reveals the artist."
