The Sprengel Museum Hannover will be hosting TRUE PICTURES?, a show that will be presenting key developments and trends of Canadian and US photography from the 1980's to the present day. Amidst the thirty-six artists immersing at the museum are Ayana V. Jackson, Jeff Wall, Nan Goldin and Deana Lawson.
TRUE PICTURES? is showscasing works for US and Canadian artists from three distinct generations who not only share the medium of photography but also belong to the digital age. As this is meant not only the advent of digital photography in the previously analog medium, but also that no artist can ignore the challenge of accompanying social changes – be it in addressing the oft-cited “flood of images”, the technical possibilities offered by the medium.
