Along the Color Line: Traces of a Transatlantic Modernism at Museum Ludwig explores how Black artists and communities across the transatlantic world have shaped, reinterpreted, and challenged the history of modernism. Drawing on movements including the Harlem Renaissance and Négritude, the exhibition traces artistic connections between Africa, Europe, and the Americas, bringing together visual art, literature, and music from the Black diaspora.
As part of the exhibition, Lorraine O’Grady will present a selection of works from her Miscegenated Family Album series, while Peter Uka will present a new body of work. The exhibition brings these practices into dialogue with works from the Museum Ludwig collection, alongside new acquisitions and loans, with the aim of amplifying voices historically underrepresented in modern art history.
Curated by Eboa Itondo, the exhibition will be on view from October 3, 2026, to March 7, 2027.
