Tell Me Where Home Is

Shannon T. Lewis I Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg

Tell Me Where Home Is explores how concepts of home, belonging, migration, and identity are continually reshaped in the 21st century. Bringing together around 160 works by international artists, the exhibition considers home beyond geography, examining how it can be formed through family, community, language, culture, memory, music, food, religion, and digital networks.

Among the participating artists is Shannon T. Lewis, whose work contributes to the exhibition’s broader exploration of identity, displacement, and the ways individuals construct a sense of home and belonging. Her practice is presented alongside diverse international perspectives that address the personal and collective experiences of migration and the search for belonging.

Curated by Uta Ruhkamp, the exhibition takes a global and transcultural approach, seeking to foster understanding of the experiences of displaced people while highlighting diversity as an essential part of forming new communities. Tell Me Where Home Is is accompanied by a richly illustrated German/English publication developed through an interdisciplinary collaboration with academic and cultural institutions.
