We are proud to share that Carmen Neely is featured in Transatlantique – Joan Mitchell, the latest volume of the bilingual (French/English) series published by ER Publishing, in which contemporary artists offer their unique perspectives on historic artists whose lives and practices bridged both sides of the Atlantic.
Edited by Mara Hoberman, senior researcher for the Joan Mitchell Catalogue Raisonné, the publication reflects on the life, work, and enduring impact of Joan Mitchell (1925–1992), one of the most important artists of the postwar period and a uniquely transatlantic figure. As Mitchell moved between the United States and France from the 1950s onward, her practice—and the discourse surrounding it—developed across two continents, cultures, and languages.
Invited by Hoberman, Carmen Neely joins eight fellow artists based on either side of the Atlantic in reflecting on Mitchell’s legacy and lasting influence. Through her contribution, Neely participates in a cross-generational dialogue on painting, underscoring the continued relevance of Mitchell’s work for artists working today.
