Art Basel Paris 2025: The 10 Editorial Favorites
Raphaël Barontini has been highlighted by AD Magazine as one of their ten favorite artists presenting work at the fair, recognized for his multidisciplinary practice combining collage, photography, screen printing, painting, and digital prints. His piece Le Mambo de Jacmel imagines a Vodou priestess from southern Haiti, set against a landscape inspired by the Flemish painter Joachim Patinir. Adorned with sacred Fang masks, cowrie jewelry, French lace patterns, and a Diablotin sculpture, the portrait represents a “counter-history” through the staging of real or imagined heroes.
