This work also holds a lot of Yoruba symbols. The bottom arrow symbol represents the phallus of eshu (another orisha) who represents abundance and is the Deity in charge of law enforcement and orderliness.
In the uruba culture eshu is the Orisha who opens the world and connects the transcendent experience and the earth. He connects man with the gods. Rubem takes an African symbol and turns it into a geometrical form.

As we move upwards in the painting and we see other symbols, symbol of the shango (urisha of justice) axis (axe). We also see the triangle of the creation of the world, surrounded with a circle which refers to female power

Not any color, red. When Rubem chooses a color he does not think of Orisha culture but more of composition. Many people try to find additional meaning to his use of color but the truth is that Rubem is simply trying to create a composition that works as a modernist artist.
