To create a dinner party, an act of communion. Have a seat at the table, an almost performative piece of gathering. On the plates – with having this kind of community in mind, the artist is thinking of creating his own table, and is conscious because one of his ancestors decided not to give up and to keep fighting. “I am my ancestors wildest dream” I wanted to honor this, by presenting two figures that act as our collective ancestors in a way. We would almost be eating off them, the plates a metaphorical representation as a foundation, which is why they are on the plate.
