Michi Meko

Meko’s consistent base palette of deep blues and blacks demonstrates the all-encompassing and ever-expanding nature of the landscapes, with the flecks of gold leaf providing a source of light and hope. He draws from historical landscapes, pulling them into contemporary contexts and inviting viewers to engage with multifaceted narratives that speak to emotional, psychological, and ecological histories.

He is the recipient of the Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant, the Atlanta Artadia Award, and most recently the Radcliffe Bailey Excellence in Visual Art Award. His work is held in the collections of the High Museum of Art (Atlanta, GA), Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (Richmond, VA), King & Spalding (Atlanta, GA), Phoenix Art Museum, (Phoenix, AZ), Ruby City (San Antonio, TX), Scion Toyota Motor Corporation (Los Angeles, CA) and CW Network (Atlanta, GA), among others.
