In Paris with Ian Mwesiga, as he guides us through Au service des rêves (In the Service of Dreams), his first solo exhibition at the gallery’s Paris location.
In this new body of work, Mwesiga explores the interior self, what he calls the "inward and outward gaze" through a deeply philosophical lens. At the heart of his reflections lie two fundamental questions: when does reality become fantasy, and when does fantasy become reality?
In Au service des rêves (In the Service of Dreams), dreams become tools to interrogate existence. Mwesiga focuses particularly on the shadow , not merely as absence of light, but as a metaphysical presence. His works suggest that presence and absence, positive and negative space, define one another. Emptiness becomes a way to speak about form, silence a way to express depth.
On view through July 27, 2025.
