IN CONVERSATION WITH MAÏMOUNA GUERRESI
"As an artist, I chose to represent the body as a medium of expression and communication, using it as a spiritual symbol. The symbolic theme of the black body is present in almost all of my works, starting with the Giants photographic series, inspired by mystical figures, both male and female, from Muslim Africa, for their spiritual greatness rather than their physical appearance.
Through my art, I aim to create a space for encounter, another point of view, a bridge that celebrates dialogue and unity. I seek similarities between cultures rather than differences, denouncing preconceptions and fears created by ignorance that fosters radicalism, and the practice of dividing and categorizing people."
