MARIANA MUNGUÍA JOINS MARIANE IBRAHIM AS DIRECTOR OF MEXICO CITY

Mariane Ibrahim is pleased to announce the gallery’s new Director in Mexico City, Mariana Munguía. Munguía will oversee the management of Mariane Ibrahim’s gallery space in Mexico City and work towards strengthening relations and strategies within Latin America.

Born in Guadalajara, Mexico, Mariana Munguía is a cultural manager, that has worked mostly in public and private institutions dedicated to supporting and promoting contemporary art. Her understanding of art and exhibition production as well as the different audiences that engage with contemporary art, has made her design programs that support the artist’s work while searching for partnerships and collaborations that help reach new horizons.

Her appointment reinforces our commitment to positioning Mexico City as a dynamic and influential presence on the global art stage, while also fostering the continued growth of its vibrant local art community.” states Mariane Ibrahim.

 

She has directed several art spaces such as, La Planta, arte contemporáneo Omnilife in Guadalajara, and Laboratorio Arte Alameda in Mexico City. She was Art Basel’s VIP Manager for Mexico from 2009 to 2013. She was Director of Patronato de Arte Contemporáneo (PAC) where she has been part of its Board of Directors since 2004. She also worked at the National Institute of Fine Arts (INBAL) as Coordinator of Visual Arts from 2019 to 2023. Munguía was Artistic Director of the 15th FEMSA Biennial in 2024.

 

Her experience in the development of programs and strategies will help consolidate the presence of Mariane Ibrahim in the region.
