Big Chief Demond Melancon at La Biennale di Venezia

In Minor Keys by Koyo Kouoh
We congratualte Big Chief Demond Melancon on his invitation to participate in the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia in both the Giardini and the Arsenale, marking the debut of our collaboration.

Conceived by the late Koyo Kouoh, In Minor Keys frames this edition of the Biennale through a curatorial approach rooted in subtlety, relation, and forms of artistic knowledge shaped by lived and collective experience, extending her lifelong geography of encounters with artists.

Koyo's vision will be carried out by her close advisors Gabe Beckhurst Feijoo, Marie Helene Pereira and Rasha Salti; the editor-in-chief Siddhartha Mitter; and the assistant Rory Tsapayi, by realizing the exhibition as she defined it, preserving and advancing her vision. This prestigious invitation supports and celebrates Melancon’s practice—grounded in ceremony and transmission.

The 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia will take place in Venice from May 9 to November 22, 2026.
