In Whose Shadows Softly Touch, a figure sits just outside of the frame, the composition and color easily reference baroque painting portraiture. It could be a painting of an ancestor that hangs in a home that is passed along for generations with walls big enough to tell such family histories.  But in what part of the world and when in time would the sitter belong? The potentially modern sitter, placed in an ambiguous temporal world speaks to the connections of history to the present.  Are they antecedents or descendants? How and where do their stories intersect?
