This work is a two-panel composition that fuses traditional and contemporary symbology to explore intergenerational identity. Centered on a Guro mask from the Ivory Coast, the work reflects on ancestral continuity while embracing the metaphysical layers of memory and selfhood. Through total concealment, Strachan dissolves the individual into a symbolic presence, presenting the mask not as a costume but as a vessel of resilience. The piece becomes a meditation on loyalty to heritage, asserting the enduring complexity of diasporic identity.
