Art Basel Paris: the 20 that are making waves
In just under a decade, she has established her place in the American, Mexican, and French art markets. This charismatic Franco-Somali gallerist, who refuses to disclose her age (which is her right), describes herself as "the most African, Caribbean, and American of French galleries." Has she not forcefully established the brilliant Ghanaian Amoako Boafo in the market? Her goal is to bring forgotten artists, often from the African diaspora, back into the spotlight of art history. But not only that. Her Parisian showcase, opened on Avenue Matignon in 2021, manages to attract a world of often conservative collectors. At Art Basel Paris, she will represent various talents, including the young painter and printmaker Djabril Boukhenaïssi, known for his work on the disappearance of night and his paintings with disturbing symbolism.
