On the occasion of Door to the Cosmos, please join us on Tuesday, October 21, for a conversation between George Clinton (Artist) and Dr. Daniel S. Palmer (Chief Curator, SCAD).
Door to the Cosmos will be on view from October 18 through December 13 in our Paris space. The exhibition traces constellations across past, present, and future, bringing together works by Nick Cave, Michi Meko, Zohra Opoku, and the first European presentation of works by George Clinton—cultural icon and sound architect of Afrofuturism.
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:
George Clinton is a pioneering musician and visual artist who revolutionized sound and performance with Parliament-Funkadelic, shaping the foundations of funk, hip-hop, and pop. A Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, his vibrant paintings extend the psychedelic world of P-Funk into color and form.
Dr. Daniel S. Palmer is Chief Curator at the SCAD Museum of Art in Savannah, Georgia, where he organized Cloaked in a Cloud, Disguised in the Sky, the first major retrospective of George Clinton’s visual art. Formerly a curator at Public Art Fund and the Jewish Museum in New York, he holds a Ph.D. in art history from the CUNY Graduate Center.
