ECHO DELAY REVERB

Lorraine O'Grady I Palais de Tokyo

The exhibition ECHO DELAY REVERB: American Art, Francophone Thought at the Palais de Tokyo explores the history of transatlantic exchanges of ideas and forms, bringing together works by around sixty artists across multiple generations and mediums. It traces how U.S. art engaged with the revolutionary thought of major intellectuals, transforming their ideas into new critical tools that challenged institutions, aesthetics, and social norms. Lorraine O’Grady will be part of the exhibition, presenting her series Mlle Bourgeoise Noire Goes to the New Museum, 1981/2007.

Spanning from the 1970s to the present, the exhibition highlights direct dialogues between theory and practice, subversive tributes, and allusive correspondences. Archival materials also shed light on the individuals, institutions, and publishers that played a key role in disseminating these ideas, offering a fresh perspective on the evolving relationship between art, theory, and society.

On view from October 22, 2025 to February 15, 2026.
