Darryl Richardson (b. 1987, Chicago, IL) is a lens-based visual artist specializing in documentary portraiture and experimental filmmaking. His work is deeply rooted in exploring notions of race, identity, and belonging, particularly within the context of the Black diaspora. Through his art, Darryl aims to challenge conventional notions of what it means to be Black, while offering a deeply personal and powerful perspective on the complexities of Black identity and belonging. His use of light and shadow, color and texture, invites viewers to see the world through a different lens.
Richardson is also the founder of FÁBRICA, a vessel for art, food, and music initiatives that touch all the senses, nurture original ideas, and connect us. Darryl currently lives and works between New York and Mexico City.
