This is another work that is distinctly two male figures sharing a very intimate moment, pushing the positivity and embodiment of queerness, but again in a safe space where they can let their guard down. The palette, the textures, the patterns take you to a timeless space where you don’t know if it’s the 70s and the 80s, the 90s, present day, which is very intentional. The title ‘there were two in the bed’ is part of the children's song ‘they were too in the bed’ which gives that playfulness of being in bed with a partner and being pushed all the way to one edge even though the rest of the bed is completely empty. Everything is OK because you’re together even though you wish they’d scoot over just a little bit.
