Taking inspiration from the Caribbean carnival, this banner comes from the series “Celebrations” composed of painting on canvas and adorned with fringe.
“Celebrations” is an ongoing series the artist started in 2009. On an abstract background made with ink, a hybrid figure is composed from different images.
The idea was to represent an imaginary Creole prince who could come from the Caribbean, mixing old Italian embroidered fabric, a portrait of Louis XIII, a Roman antique bust and parts of a model’s figure the artist photographed in 2020.
