A group of veiled women, their faces, hands, and feet marked with white patterns, move gracefully as the wind stirs their garments.
Shot in slow motion, the footage alternates between the women’s movements and radiant white pauses, creating a dreamlike interplay of presence and absence against the stark white background. The hypnotic choreography evokes a cosmic dance, punctuated by moments that recall the warm, sunlit beach of Malindi.
The title “Dhikr” refers to a form of devotional prayer, chanted here by the Kenyan women. Their deep, rhythmic breathing merges with the soundscape, mimicking the wind that swept through the African coastline on that day.
This piece resonates as a meditation on spirituality, unity, and the intertwining of human and natural rhythms.
