This is the central piece in the exhibition, an imaginary representation of Toussaint Louverture, triumphing on the French colonization. The work is a depiction of the real sculpture of Napoleon Bonaparte which is present in public in the city of Orléans, France.

The face is removed, and inverted to emulate the sense of representation of France’s empires power.

The piece gives Toussaint Louverture the importance that a French dominated history did not offer his legacy.

This is seen in tangent to the equestrian portraits in art history which are also the most impressive representations of Western power.

Toussaint Louverture Triumph, urges and represents another counter-history.
