Sergio Lucena, born in Paraiba in 1963. He is a Brazillian painter, inspired by Turrell, exhibiting an alternate translation of light and gradient. The subtle transition of colors emphasizes the idea that light can be extricated through color.
Lucena is a self-taught artist, throughout his career got awards in the main halls of the country, participated in workshops, exchanges and residences in Berlin, Washington DC. and Denmark with exhibitions in galleries and Brazil and abroad art institutions. In 2012 he received the Award Mario Pedrosa, as Contemporary Artist 2011 Art Critics Brazilian Association (ABCA).
His series, A Common Place, suggests a larger reality: the correspondence between the inner reality and the outside world. Lucena defines this moment as “a synthesis, a place that is all, but one, a place of communion, of belonging”.
